How trade-in works at Epic Deals
One process, real cash, no haggling. Here’s exactly what happens between the moment you get an offer and the moment the money lands in your account, and everything else you’d want to know before you send us anything.
What we buy
We’re a re-commerce specialist, not a pawn shop: every device we buy gets properly tested, graded and either resold or refurbished, which is exactly why we can pay real, fair prices instead of lowball “as-is” offers. We buy thousands of devices a year across these categories — pick yours below for an instant offer, brand-specific FAQs and exactly what we look for.

Got something worth R3,000 or more that isn’t listed above? Send us the details — condition, whether you still have the original box and accessories, and roughly what you’re hoping to get — and we’ll come back with an offer.
The process, step by step
Pick your device and tell us its condition. No listing photos, no back-and-forth messages, no “is this still available.”
Accept the offer and we’ll arrange a courier to collect it, anywhere in South Africa, at no cost to you.
If it matches your description, the offer stands. If something material was missed, we’ll call you before doing anything else — no surprise deductions.
Cash via EFT within 5 days of us receiving and testing your device, or take a 12% top-up as an in-store voucher, or sell on consignment for potentially more.

Why not just sell it yourself?
Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree can get you a slightly higher headline price, in theory, if you’re willing to field time-wasters, meet strangers to hand over your phone, and take the risk of a fake payment or a no-show. We built this to skip all of that: one tested offer, one free collection, one real payment into your account.
Why South Africans trade in with us
We’re a VAT-registered, Consumer Goods and Services Ombud Scheme-accredited business that’s paid out more than R88 million since 2013, with 1,800+ real customer reviews to show for it. That’s not a pawn shop discount rate and it’s not a stranger from a classifieds ad — it’s a real, accountable South African business with a paper trail.
Epic Deals vs the alternatives
| Epic Deals | Facebook / Gumtree | Pawn shop | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payment speed | 5 days | Weeks to find a buyer | Immediate but low |
| Collection | Free, nationwide | You arrange it, in person | You deliver it |
| Haggling | None once accepted | Expected, often aggressive | Standard practice |
| Safety | VAT-registered, Ombud-accredited business | Fake-payment risk | Varies |
How you get paid
Straight into your bank account once we’ve received and tested your device. This is what most people choose.
Take a 12% top-up on your offer as store credit, if you’re planning to buy something from us anyway.
We list it and sell it on your behalf for potentially more than an instant offer, usually within about 13 days.
Condition & what to include
Every device gets graded honestly, and a broken or non-working device is still worth something to us — you’ll just get an offer reflecting that condition rather than a “mint” price. Original box, charger and accessories aren’t required, but including them (in good condition) does improve your offer, since it means less work for us to resell it. Before you send anything, sign out of any account tied to the device (iCloud/Find My on Apple devices, Google/Samsung account on Android, Huawei ID) — each brand page above has the exact steps for that specific device, since a locked device can’t be tested or resold and will hold up your payment.
Frequently asked questions
How much will I get for my device?
Select your device and condition to get an instant offer. It’s based on real resale demand, not a lowball opening bid — once you accept it and the device matches what you described, that’s the price you’re paid.
Do you buy broken or non-working devices?
Yes. Tell us honestly what’s wrong with it and we’ll grade the offer accordingly, rather than refusing it outright.
How do I get paid, and how long does it take?
By EFT, within 5 days of us receiving and testing your device — or take a 12% top-up as an in-store voucher, or sell on consignment for potentially more, usually within about 13 days.
Is the courier collection really free?
Yes, anywhere in South Africa, with no minimum order value.
Is it actually safe to trade in with Epic Deals?
We’re a VAT-registered, Consumer Goods and Services Ombud Scheme-accredited business that’s paid South Africans more than R88 million since 2013, backed by 1,800+ real customer reviews.
Do I need the original box or accessories?
No, but including them in good condition improves your offer.
How do I remove my data and accounts before sending my device?
Sign out of iCloud/Find My (Apple), your Google or Samsung account (Android) or Huawei ID before it’s collected, and do a factory reset if you’re able to. A device that’s still locked to your account can’t be tested or resold, which delays your payment.
What devices do you buy?
Phones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, consoles, handhelds, AirPods, action cameras, and select home and lifestyle tech like Dyson and coffee machines — see the full list above.
My device isn’t listed. Can you still buy it?
If it’s worth R3,000 or more, contact us with the condition, accessories and what you’re hoping to get, and we’ll come back with an offer.
